My name is Natalia de Santiago and I’m a Spanish author, financial literacy expert and entrepreneur on a mission to make financial education more accessible, more efficient, more relevant, more inclusive and —why not?— more fun.

An engineer by training and a financier by vocation, I specialise in the economic impact of climate change. I have always worked in finance, in Paris, Madrid and Munich, and in 2009 I co-founded MyValue Solutions, a pioneering open banking technology company that was acquired by a German group in 2021. I’m now busy with my new start-up, Weavers AI.

In 2020 I began writing a column on finance and economics for ELLE magazine, which opened my eyes to the low levels of financial literacy of the population at large, and of women in particular. Since then, I have devoted more and more of my time to financial education, which has become the most rewarding part of my work.

I also work with companies including Deloitte, IBM, Sanitas, Ericsson and AXA to improve their employees’ financial well-being, and regularly collaborate with universities, local governments and institutions such as the ECB, the CNMV and the Bank of Spain. I am also a member of ESMA’s consultative working group on investor protection and Spain’s ambassador for the European Commission’s financial literacy strategy.

Outside work, I live tucked away in the Alps with my husband and our five daughters —yes, you read that right: five girls—, spend more time on Instagram than I should, and am the author of Invest in Yourself, Invest with Little, Start-up Right and the children’s series MONEY Academy, which have brought the world of economics and finance to more than 150,000 readers.
